    In memory of Peter Soh

I have decided to write about the late Mr Peter Soh, who is truly talented and somehow being overlooked and misunderstood. Perhaps, many just only know that he works in the science lab.
Do you know he has two books under his name? He has written quite a few poems? He rode a vespa when he was younger? He composed his own song? I have not gotten permission from his wife to put some of his poem up here. Will do that once I have the permission.
I thought I just want to talk abit about his last months of journey and how he has so much peace and he could joke, just like his usual self, even when he was in hosptial and at home under hospice care.

He had liver cancer, at a late stage when discoverd in March this year. He went to see the doctor in hospital in Jan, complaining about some discomfort. Unfortunately, the cancer was not detected. By the time it was found, it was at late stage. By the time they put him on a try with chemo, it spreaded to the kidney. It was too late. Peter, I was told by his wife, asked the doctor how much time he had. The doc gave about 3 to 6 months.

Peter went on to prepare himself, deciding on the number of dys for his wake, the type of service. He requested that the last service will be charismatic so that it is joyous and nto sober. Why? Because he was going Home to the Lord. It is a joyous occassion. He also started to edit and arrange his collection of poems too. It was rushed to print, delivered on the day when his body return home.

How do you feel about it? I sense a deeply religious person who trusted God all this while. He had the peace that the world could not understand.

Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, not let it be fearful." John 14:27

Such is Peter, a blessed man, who experienced and showed God's love, joy and peace.

    Good Friday at Barker Road

Decided to visit Barker Road Methodist Church instead going to homechurch. PArtly because 8 am for service is kinda impossible, partly I wanted to hear Rev Malcolm Tan, my former pastor. If not for him, my wife would not be so ready to come over to Faith MC.

It is refreshing to hear from him again. He is always able to balance good Bible exposition, tradition from history and application. He started with the hymn, Rock of Ages, Cleft for me, a hymn I used to our honey album and also my son's name (Zuriel = The Lord is my Rock and Foundation). The key references were God showing His glory to Moses and Moses had to hide between a cleft, Moses striking the rock for water to gush out for the angry Israelites.

The message reminded me that God, the Rock, not only protect but provide salvation from the double curse of sin - guilt and bondage. And it was through the flowing of water and blood from his Son's side.

    Thanks be to God!

    Progress Report

A little update of my course. I am in my third week. Has been very rewarding intellectually. Had difficult modules like Complexity, Futuring and Edge of Chaos! We talk about various issues, including challenging covention assumptions. The discussion has been rich. My tutorial group comprise 7 of us, 2 males and 5 females. Tutor is a male. We are going Germany for our overseas study! The school I am to do my innovation project is St Patrick. The school is fantastic! Good culture, strong pride for the pupils and for the school. Parents - some of them hardcore loyalists! Principal is very kind and supportive.

Got to know my tutorial group better. Enjoying those lkind of interaction.

Dear Lord, pls continue to guide me to explore more issues and prepare me for the next appointment. I pray I will make good friends there too. May I be your instrument of grace and blessing too. Amen.

    Here I am waiting
    Abide in me I pray
    Here I am longing
    For You
    Hide me in Your love
    Bring me to my knees
    May I know Jesus
    More and more

    Come live in me
    All my life
    Take over
    Come breathe in me
    And I will rise
    On eagle's wings
    Eagle's Wings
