The poor amongst us
Went to the bank on sat to bank in a cheque and to get a new passbook.
The teller was trying to convince a man not to close and open an accoun too often. The man was in his forties. He has tattoo on his legs and arms. Not the new generation tattoo but the old style, with some deities design.
Fianlly, he agreed to keep the account and on the advise of the teller, withdrawn the maximum amount of case he could, $3. He told her that he could use to buy a package of lunch.
It may not occur to many that we do have the poor amongst us and they are not that easy to notice. They are sometime struggling to have their next meal met. I think I am guilty of being ignorant of their plight and stuggle. That ignorant results in being not a good steward of my own money.
Lord, may I not forget the poor in our midst and may I be a good steward of what You have given me. Amen.

I really dunno.
But at least, I need not wake up so early. :P

Saving Face
My son complained to me while I was bathing him.
He said ma ma bullied him. And aunty waiting for school bus also bullied him.
The main issue was that the aunty who accompanied his kindergarten mate while waiting for school bus asked my wife if my son wears pamper when he sleep at night.
My wife asked the aunty to ask my son. He felt so embarassed and cornered that he complained about it for an hour after school. Ha ha. Didn't know that at such young age, face is already so important.
So I went through with him on how to help himself out of the situation. It was very hilarious to see him repeating the complaint.

This birthday is a mix of emotions.
Days before my birthday the bad news of having a friend discovering he has a brain tumour after a fits at his workplace had casted a shadow over my emotions. Then the haze dampened my mood.
We did have a good time going for duck tour on 6th Oct(DBS card members have discount). My dad came along too. It was fun, esp the part of plunging into the Kallan River. Told hanern it is like the bat mobile, can go into the water. The ride was pleasant. I am thankful for my family. In the afternoon, I went to my friend's father wake. I know some people think it is 'suay' to go just a day before birthday. I am not superstitious.
Bought a cake and put on 3 candles since Karis is 3. For me, each candle represents 13 years. Haha
Then Eliora is down with flu, catching it from my wife. Poor Eliora, she could hardly sleep well. So we took the risk and gave her Karis medication, but in reduced dose. Thank God she slept better.
Anyway, we had to miss church so that she could see the pediatrician.
But, i think the whole events, the bad more than the good is a reminder of what Moses said in Psalm 90, 12 Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. 13 Relent, O Lord! How long will it be? Have compassion on your servants. 14 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. 15 Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen trouble. 16 May your deeds be shown to your servants, your splendor to their children. 17 May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us-- yes, establish the work of our hands.
Indeed, the best place for my 40th year will be under his wings.

daughters who are bring laughter
Karis is always so funny. I think she has the talent of being funny.

And Eliora is getting stronger, able to lift her head and shoulder up.

What have I been doing?

Have not written for a while as I have been confining my writing to ticks and crosses.
