CNY
It is fun watching my children this CNY.
Karis gotten a little pink 'handbag' from the Yakult Lady. So, she told my wife, "Mei mei wants to put the oranges in the bbag.". Thanks to her, I have a lighter load to carry this year.
When they recieved their ang pao, they religiously put their ang pao into the pink bag. Of course, Karis remembered to hang her bag in the taxi and took them down when alighting.
And then there was this exchange between my son and his grandfather (my father)
Grand dad: Can i have some of your ang paos.
Son: No, they are mine and mei mei.
Grand dad: Then I don't have any ang pao.
Son: Yes, You have your present. The 2 oranges.
At night, son told me he wanted to open the ang pao to count the money. And, he actually can't really count.
This morning:
Son: Today you not working, yes?
Father: Yes, I am not working.
Son: Can we go to zoo today? I got many money in the ang pao.
Today, we visited my grandma, who was hospitalised due to a fractured hip bone. Thank God that her operation went well. We prayed for her there, with Hanern leading the prayer.
Then we went to botanical garden with his box to catch insect. Our prize hunt - a beetle. He spotted a grasshopper and spider. I can see my gene in action. We had dinner at MacDonald and he ate half a filet-o0fish and MacChicken! He was really hungry. So was Karis.
Thank God for a good 2 days!

One more dotta..

I am going to have another dotta. yes!!
Actually knew it for more than a month but somehow have no time to scan and write about this.
My son actually wanted a di di since he has a mei mei now. But i think 2 girls means they have someone they can share their hearts to. Which is good. As long as it is God's gift, I am thankful.
I had already started my name searching. Have been praying that God will give me a name. The prompting in my heart so far has to do with light. The world is a dark place. Terrorism, AIDS, pollution, melting north and south pole, tsunami, earthquake, bird flu etc. It was like the week of rain, crowding out the sun. But the warm of sunshine melts away the groomingness of rain and storm. It is like God's light, shining through darkness. The image of LOTR - The Two Towers, when Gandalf led the rescue just when day break. I want my child be reminded that God is light in the midst of darkness. I know she will have to face it bravely.
So, the first runner for her Christian name is Eleona, which mean the Lord is my Light. We are still praying about that and also looking for Chinese name too.
Have a look at her. One of the scan is the advance 3-D scan.

Sunny Day
Today is not exactly sunny at all. But it is sunny day cos I met up with me ex-student from Ghim Moh. He is Sunny Tay. A special student to me. I always remember him as commited but charge like a bull student. Don't irritate him cos he has quite a temper. But he is a faithful and loyal friend.
It was nice to catch up with him after 10 years. Still so boyish. Now studying at NP and working at Zouk!! Dunno how he manages.
Anyway, he interviewed me and recorded the interview for his group project. haha.

Lectures
So far so good! The lecturers have been either funny or funnier!
A good balance of theoretical discourse and practical sharing. From asking "What is Reflection?", "Where do I come from?", "Who am I?", "Where am I going?" to soloist performance of dialogue to teachers as HOD, managing difficult students etc.
I am learning alot, esp, after teaching for a while, I could use real cases to compare with these theoretical questions and framework.
If only more would to pause to reflect and learn...

Lectures tutorial ,,,
Into my second day and I am enjoying. Monday morning was nice. Strolled slowly to the campus, with YES 933 hitting my ear drums... rather brushing my ear drums. Found a place at the side and sat down. Took out my long lost foolscap pad and got ready.
A good balance of lecture and tea break. Went to Margaret Drive HCfor lunch. DIn try the famous chicken rice. Instead had Wanton Noodle soup. Sat with some newly made friends and also a church friend. Nice chat.
The lectures were more of a philosophical...asking quesitions like what is your purpose, what is reflection,.. not too many facts, so no need to copy much.. but to listen and ponder more. Love it!
And the 3 lecturers are good!!

Getting my student's pass
In 3 hours time, I will get my student's pass. WOOHOO!!
Looking forward to be a student again. Even it is just 4 mths. In fact 4 mths is just nice. Not too long and not too short. I am thankful to God for the chance to read, reflect and learn.
Been so tired and so lack of time for reading. Now, I am officially assigned to read!
Going to line up, collect pass, get my time-table etc in hours time. Haha.
For my friends who are collecting O level result, will try to be back in school to celebrate with you.

New Year Resolution

My church is encouraging to grow. One of which is to be immersed in God's word. So there is this 1 year Bible reading plan. If you follow, you will read through the Bible in a year. Accompanying the plan is a Journal to record lessons/devotions. This is my resolution. Last year, my dearest sun nui got me a desk daily verse which was very helpful and encouraging. I am sure this time, as I approach His word, He will strenghten and deepen my walk with Him. Amen.

Wesleyan Covenant Watchnight Service
Since become a Pa Pa, no chance to go Wesleyan Covenant Watchnight Service. It is a service at the end of the year, to reflect, to confess, to thank God for the year and to covenant with God for the new year. To usher in the New Year with God and fellow brethen. The last one I gone to was 2001, when my church's old santurary was to be demolished to make way for new building. The place has significant meaning to me. It was where my heart was stirred by God's spirit, comforted when troubled. I led my first service there. Ushered at 7 am service. Expericed first Christmas candlelight service there too. My confirmation and my wedding!!
Anyway, so much work that not much time to reflect. Nevermind, will have my chance once my course start!
One of the most powerful part in the liturgy is this prayer:
COVENANT PRAYER
I am no longer my own, but thine.
Put me to what thou wilt, rank me with whom thou wilt.
Put me to doing, put me to suffering.
Let me be employed for thee or laid aside for thee, exalted for thee or brought low by thee.
Let me be full, let me be empty.Let me have all things, let me have nothing.
I freely and heartily yield all things to thy pleasure and disposal.
And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
Thou art mine and I am thine. So be it.
And the covenant which I have made on earth,Let it be ratified in heaven. Amen.
GOD help me to keep it. AMEN!!
