Went to visit my grandma one day after her discharge from AMK community hospital. She was there after her op to corret her fracture at hip. She has not been home since last Dec. I know she is real glad to be home. Imagine away for 3 mths!

She is in her 80s and she is always a fighter. Never gone through proper education but she has learnt to read Chinese. And where can you find an old lady who recline at sofa reading Chinese Wuxia novel? She still travels around on her own, until her fall. I know that once she doesn't need her walking stick, she will start giving her children surprise visits. She may not English but she has devised way to overcome. In a lift, she noticed that broken circle is to close door (C) and circle is to keep door open (O). She is always resourceful and never let her inadquecy limits her.

20 years ago, when I was a recruit in P. Tekong, we had an open house. My grandma surprised me. When they told me my familly is here, I went to the canteen expecting my parents but it turned out to be my grandma. She actually made her way to Changi ferry terminal and not sure how, without knowing my IC no., and without having me telling her what to do, and in days where HP is in science fiction movie, reached my camp and got them to find me. Amazing woman!

She is a fighter. While in hospital, she told the therapist she wants to get well soon so that she could visit China again.

I admire her tenacity.
