Young theologian
Mum: God wants us to obey papa and mama.
Boy: Today, teacher (Sunday School teacher) never say that.
Mum: Yes, it is said in the Bible.
Boy: Have?
Later
Mum: Come, I show you in the Bible. Honour your parents....
Boy: *move off satisfied with the biblical discourse*
That was my wife and son having a theological discussion. I felt it was so amusing that at such a young age, he has learnt to question authority and refer to the Bible for moral standard.
My wife was wonderful in taking the opportunity to teach him to always refer to the Bible when in doubt.
If only more will seek the Bible as a reference for decision and actions.
Dear Lord, help me to always seek Your precepts as my reference point and to have a childlike obedience. Amen.
