Daily verse: Matthew 4:19
"Follow Me, and I will make you fisher of men."
To follow Christ is to follow Him in living out His two commandments; to love God and to love others as self and the Great Commission; to make disciples of all Nations.
The calling for us to follow Him will result in Christ making us to be fisher of men. We are called to be witness of God's love and redemption to everyone aound us. Someone once said, the Bible a non-Christian is going to be the Gospel according to you. Live the life of Christ and people will be attracted to Christ. I think if someone who knows me for many years and was shocked to discover that I am a Christian would tell much about how much of Christ I have in me. It would signal that I need to repent and ask God to help me to be true follower of Christ.
NS is a time when your character is being scutinised by others constantly. We practically lived together, slept together, snored together :P, ate together, trained together, and even bath together. Ha ha. We have to depend on each other. Many a time we are pressured and stressed. My section and platoon mates are able to see how I response to stress and temptation. I had to consciously ask the Lord to help me fight temptation like swearing and cursing. It is at times so easy to want to cos of the stress and almost everyone does it. Or the time when someone in front of me was browsing porno magazine. I was really tempted to look over. Other occassions were telling and joining in dirty jokes, drinking and drunk. Thank God that with help from the Holy Spirit, I manage to maintain my Christian witness. And because of that, when I told my friends while we were doing our guard duty patrolling in the middle of late night, about God's love, they listened. What I preached, I walked. When I was walking, I was preaching. I had earned my chance to share God's message of love.
I hope I am continuing in my witness for Christ. Only people around can tell me if I am.
Lord, help me to be a 'natural' fisher of men. Amen
